Fultz played the 76ers' first four games of the season but has been sidelined since.
Analysis: Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo said Friday before the team plays the New Orleans Pelicans that Fultz is progressing in his recovery but with uncertainty. Colangelo says: ''There's always a chance that he's going to be out there soon, and there's a chance that he's not going to play this year.''

On Sunday, reporters saw him awkwardly push the ball from his chest while badly missing 3-point attempts at the end of practice.
Analysis: Fultz played in four games early in the season, making 9 of 27 shots from the field, nothing longer than 13 feet. He didn't attempt a 3-point shot and was 6 of 12 from the free-throw line. After a victory at Detroit on Oct. 23, the Sixers shut down Fultz with what they called ''soreness and scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder.'' The 6-foot-4 guard is now healthy enough to practice, but he can't shoot straight.

Analysis: Fultz originally was supposed to miss just three games after getting hurt in late October, but then the 76ers said in mid-November that he would be re-evaluated in 2-to-3 weeks. We're at the back end of that time frame. Though the team has said he has no structural damage, Fultz reportedly received a cortisone shot last month. The 76ers will continue to play it safe with this year's No. 1 overall pick to make sure he's completely healed.

Raymond Brothers, who represents the first selection of the 2017 draft, said Fultz had fluid drained from his right shoulder and plans to visit a specialist.
Analysis: Fultz has played in each of Philadelphia's four games and is averaging 6.0 points on 9-of-27 shooting. His free-throw shooting has also been poor as he has made just 6 of 12 attempts.

Fultz pulled down two rebounds and had three assists, tallying a plus-minus of +2 in his 16:23 on the floor. He added one steal.
Analysis: Fultz, the first overall pick in the 2017 draft, is showing his age in the early going, according to coach Brett Brown. "He's a great person, he wants to be coached, it's just life in real time in the NBA at 19 can catch lots of people off guard," Brown said.

Fultz grabbed one rebound and had two assists, tallying a plus-minus of -20 in his 24:27 of playing time.
Analysis: The top overall pick is shooting just 34.8 percent (8 of 23) over the first three games.

Fultz grabbed three rebounds and added an assist, accumulating a plus-minus of -7 in his 16:53 on the floor. He added one steal.
Analysis: Fultz hasn't been a factor so far with 16 total points in more than 33 total minutes over two games.
|Oct. 18 6:46 PM PT7:46 PM MT8:46 PM CT9:46 PM ET1:46 GMT9:46 6:46 PM MST8:46 PM EST5:46 UAE (+1)03:4621:46 ET8:46 PM CTNaN: - Markelle Fultz scored 10 points Wednesday, going 5 of 9 from the field, as the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Washington Wizards 120-115. Fultz grabbed three rebounds and added an assist, accumulating a plus-minus of -18 in his 17:54 of playing time. He added one block.
Analysis: Fultz got to make his NBA debut close to his home near the D.C. area suburbs. While there's all kinds of upside with Fultz, he's clearly not completely over the shoulder and knee injuries he battled during the preseason. As he gets healthy, Fultz will get more minutes and the production should follow.

Analysis: Philadelphia started the last two No. 1 overall picks together in its 111-89 home loss to Memphis. Simmons, who missed all of last season recovering from a broken foot, showed his versatility with six points, nine assists and seven rebounds. He shot only 2 for 8 and Fultz was worse at 2 for 13, finishing with four points in his first game.

Analysis: Fultz suffered the injury in Saturday's game against the Warriors in Vegas, but it's not believed to be as serious as initially thought. Given the history of injuries to their recent top picks, no one will blame the 76ers for taking the safe approach here.
|July 8 8:09 PM PT9:09 PM MT10:09 PM CT11:09 PM ET3:09 GMT11:09 8:09 PM MST10:09 PM EST7:09 UAE (+1)05:0923:09 ET10:09 PM CTNaN: - Fultz needed to be helped off the court with a sprained left ankle in the 76ers' summer league game Saturday night against Golden State. Fultz appeared to roll his ankle in the second half and was helped to the locker room by two teammates. Sixers summer league coach Lloyd Pierce said Fultz has been diagnosed with a sprained left ankle and "will be treated accordingly." Fultz will not play Sunday, but there is no timetable for his return to action.
Analysis: It was the last thing the Sixers wanted to see just when they appeared to be ready to put years of misery behind them. They have dealt with significant injuries to center Joel Embiid and last year's No. 1 pick, Ben Simmons, over the last three years.
