Richards struck out three, ending the game with a 2.28 ERA and 0.90 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: The right-hander had been sidelined since suffering a right biceps strain in his first start this season, at Oakland on April 5. Richards' start was just his 12th over the past two seasons, as he missed the final five months of 2016 with a right elbow injury. In 2014 and 2015, the righty was a combined 28-16 with a 3.18 ERA in 376 innings with 340 strikeouts.

Richards struck out six, ending the game with a 1.50 ERA and 0.75 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richards threw 85 pitches in the longest and best of his four starts since returning from a biceps strain that sidelined him five months. Though he's yet to win since coming back and remains a major injury risk, the Anaheim ace is restoring some lost fantasy value by producing a 1.86 ERA and a 0.72 WHIP following his return.

Richards struck out seven, ending the game with a 2.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: He was making his fourth start of the season and was better as the game went on. He threw 74 pitches, the most he's thrown since coming off the disabled list with a biceps injury that sidelined him most of the season. Richards retired the last 12 batters he faced and struck out the side in the fifth. He struck out seven and allowed two hits, one of which was the home run.

Analysis: Richards was removed after throwing 63 pitches, 45 for strikes, in his second start back from a five-month injury. He threw 52 pitches in 3.1 innings in his return from the disabled list on Sept. 5 against the Oakland A's. He is next slated to take the ball Tuesday against the Indians.

Richards struck out three, ending the game with a 1.13 ERA and 1.13 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: This game came five months to the day that he strained his right biceps muscle in Oakland in his season debut. The plan was to throw about 50 pitches or three innings in this outing - he totaled 52 pitches. ''It just felt good to be back out there with them,'' Richards said. ''I was right where I wanted to be. ... I did everything that I wanted to do. This is a good one to build off of and hopefully next time I can go a little bit longer but stay with the same output."

Analysis: Richards has been on the disabled list since April because of a strained biceps. ''You're obviously not going to see him throw 100 pitches,'' manager Mike Scioscia said.

Analysis: The Angels' ace allowed three runs in his second inning of work, but the important thing is he experienced no issues both on the mound and afterward. "Everything feels normal," he said. "I've already been checked out by the doctor. It's perfectly fine. I'm just excited to be back out there." Richards still has some hurdles to clear, but for now it's looking like his decision to opt against Tommy John surgery was a good choice.
