NFL Recent Player News
|9/19/2018||Ryan Tannehill, Mia, QB|
|Tannehill is listed as having a knee and ankle injury ahead of Sunday's game with Oakland.
Analysis: Tannehill has gotten off to a strong start to the season, completing 72.5 percent of his passes while totaling 398 yards, four TDs and two picks.
|9/19/2018||Alex Collins, Bal, RB|
|Collins was held out of Wednesday's practice with an illness.
Analysis: This shouldn't affect his availability for Sunday's game against Denver. Collins is the Ravens' top running back but is off to a slow start, managing just 48 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries through two games.
|9/19/2018||Josh Gordon, NE, WR|
|Gordon took part in his first practice as a Patriot on Wednesday, though his new team listed him as limited due to a hamstring injury.
Analysis: It looks like the troubled wide receiver will make his New England debut Sunday at Detroit, though fantasy owners should temper their expectations for the moment. Gordon could be in line for a smaller role due to the injury and a limited knowledge of the Patriots' playbook.
|9/19/2018||Larry Fitzgerald, Ari, WR|
|Fitzgerald was limited in Wednesday's practice by a sore hamstring, but Cardinals coach Steve Wilks said he'll play Sunday against the Bears.
Analysis: The 35-year-old remains a useful fantasy player but may no longer be an elite one, in part due to the Cardinals' woeful offensive situation. Fitzgerald has 10 catches for 104 yards through the first two weeks.
|9/18/2018||Jay Ajayi, Phi, RB|
|Ajayi (back) was held out of Wednesday's practice and remains uncertain to play Sunday against the Colts. Eagles coach Doug Pederson called the running back day-to-day during Wednesday's media session.
Analysis: The Eagles promoted rookie running back Josh Adams from the practice squad Tuesday, a possible indicator that they're not expecting to have Ajayi available. Ajayi has reached the end zone three times already after scoring one rushing TD all of last season. If he's not scoring, though, he hasn't been much of a factor, averaging just 42.5 rushing yards a game.
|9/18/2018||Takkarist McKinley, Atl, DE|
|McKinley is being slowed by a groin injury.
Analysis: McKinley has notched a sack in each of Atlanta's first two games.
|9/17/2018||Jordan Howard, Chi, RB|
|Jordan Howard ran for 35 yards on 14 carries Monday in the Chicago Bears' 24-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He added three receptions for 33 yards.|
|9/17/2018||Tarik Cohen, Chi, RB|
|Tarik Cohen ran for eight yards on four carries Monday in the Chicago Bears' 24-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He added one reception for 17 yards.
Analysis: Cohen sat out the fourth quarter after injuring his ankle, though Bears coach Matt Nagy said he's not concerned about it. The second-year back still isn't getting enough touches to merit strong consideration for a fantasy start.
|9/17/2018||Rashaad Penny, Sea, RB|
|Rashaad Penny ran for 30 yards on 10 carries Monday in the Seattle Seahawks' 24-17 loss to the Chicago Bears.|
|9/17/2018||Mike Davis, Sea, RB|
|Mike Davis ran for three yards on three carries Monday in the Seattle Seahawks' 24-17 loss to the Chicago Bears. He added one reception for -1 yards.|
|9/17/2018||C.J. Prosise, Sea, RB|
|C.J. Prosise ran for zero yards on zero carries Monday in the Seattle Seahawks' 24-17 loss to the Chicago Bears. He added three receptions for 22 yards.|
|9/17/2018||Mitchell Trubisky, Chi, QB|
|Mitchell Trubisky was 25 of 34 for 200 yards and threw two touchdown passes Monday in the Chicago Bears' 24-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He threw two interceptions, didn't fumble and was sacked two times. Trubisky added 24 rushing yards on five carries.|
|9/17/2018||Russell Wilson, Sea, QB|
|Russell Wilson was 22 of 36 for 226 yards and threw two touchdown passes Monday in the Seattle Seahawks' 24-17 loss to the Chicago Bears. He threw one interception, fumbled once and was sacked six times. Wilson added 17 rushing yards on three carries.|
|9/17/2018||Jarvis Landry, Cle, WR|
|Landry is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Jets after being limited in practice this week by a knee injury.
Analysis: There's been no indication that Landry is in danger of missing the contest, and he did play 59 of Cleveland's 62 offensive snaps in Sunday's game at New Orleans. The offseason addition has been Tyrod Taylor's No. 1 target as expected so far, recording 12 catches for 175 yards through the first two weeks.
|9/17/2018||Josh Gordon, NE, WR|
|The Browns have traded problematic wide receiver Josh Gordon to the Patriots for a fifth-round draft pick. The deal came together Monday, two days after the Browns reached a breaking point with Gordon, who has been suspended for much of his NFL career. Gordon played in Cleveland's season opener, but reported to the team on Saturday with a hamstring injury after practicing all week.
Analysis: Gordon's tantalizing talent had caused the Browns to hang onto him while he dealt with drug and alcohol dependence. He missed training camp to receive treatment and the Browns were cautiously optimistic he would help them this season.
|9/17/2018||LeSean McCoy, Buf, RB|
|McCoy (ribs) will be a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: McCoy cracked cartilage in his ribs during last week's game against the Chargers but appears inclined to play through the injury, though there's a strong chance his workload is reduced if he is active for Sunday's contest against the Vikings. The standout running back hasn't gotten off to a very good start due to Buffalo's big offensive struggles, and he draws a tough matchup in Minnesota's strong defense this week.
|9/17/2018||Marcus Mariota, Ten, QB|
|Mariota (elbow) did practice Wednesday, splitting reps with Blaine Gabbert.
Analysis: Titans coach Mike Vrabel told reporters Mariota is improving, though other reports say the quarterback is still dealing with some numbness and continues to have trouble making certain throws. As of now Gabbert looks to be the favorite to make a second straight start when Tennessee visits Jacksonville this Sunday.
|9/17/2018||Daniel Carlson, Min, K|
|The Vikings have waived rookie kicker Daniel Carlson, after the fifth-round draft pick pulled all three of his field goal attempts wide right at Green Bay.
Analysis: Two of Carlson's misses came in overtime on Sunday, forcing the Vikings to settle for a 29-29 tie with the rival Packers. Carlson was cut on Monday, as the Vikings signed wide receiver Aldrick Robinson.
|9/17/2018||Zane Gonzalez, Cle, K|
|A person familiar with the decision says the Cleveland Browns will sign free agent kicker Greg Joseph to replace Gonzalez, who missed four attempts in Sunday's loss at New Orleans.
Analysis: Gonzalez misfired on two extra points and two field-goal attempts, including a 52-yarder in the final seconds that would have forced overtime on Sunday. After his last kick sailed off course, Gonzalez sat alone hanging his head while sitting on the Browns' bench before being consoled by Saints kicker Wil Lutz.
|9/17/2018||Greg Joseph, Cle, K|
|A person familiar with the decision says the Browns will sign Joseph to replace Zane Gonzalez, who missed four attempts in Sunday's loss at New Orleans.
Analysis: Joseph was picked over several other kickers who came in for tryouts on Monday, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced the signing. Joseph was with the Miami Dolphins during training camp and the preseason. He played at Florida Atlantic.
